Great to see Jenson on Track

“REALLY LOOKING FORWARD to racing the team Mugen Honda NSX-gt in the Suzuka 1000kms later this year,” Jenson Button spruiked this week on social media.

“I had the chance to drive the Honda NSX concept GT last year at Motegi and absolutely loved it.  Proper motor car, proper racing.   #supergt #nsx #honda

Fernando Alonso’s stunning stint in last weekend’s Indy 500 saw his former teammate back in the saddle in Monaco for the McLaren Formula One team.    Now Jenson has Japan’s Super GT Touring Car series firmly in his sights.

Honda has confirmed the ride and the reserve driver for McLaren (which sources power units from Honda) will race at the Suzuka Circuit August 27.

Jenson’s drive is a Honda NSX-GT fielded by Team Mugen in the 1,000-kilometer race at the home of the Japanese F1 Grand Prix.   He shares the seat with current Team Mugen drivers Hideki Mutoh and Daisuke Nakajima.   The 2009 F1 world champion this week is testing the near-all carbon fibre NSX-GT, with its 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4, a 6-speed sequential transmission, and rear-wheel drive.
