Ready to Rev Up Perth and Surrounds

QUIT TARGA WEST, WA’s premier tarmac rally,  revs into action this coming week.  Fifty-seven teams battle for the fastest time over 242 competitive kilometres, before the grand finale City of Perth Super Stage at Langley Park from midday Sunday.

Stages are scheduled for Barbagallo Raceway, Malaga, Whiteman Park, Kalamunda and the infamous Zig Zag, as well as the picturesque open country roads of Toodyay, Lower Chittering and Bullsbrook,

The 13th Quit Targa West has attracted rally teams in a mix of performance, classic and exotic vehicles, ready to race the clock on some of Perth’s most iconic roads.

Spectating is Free

QTW17 fires up with the traditional Ceremonial Start in the heart of the CBD on Thursday August 10, from 11am to 1.30pm at Forrest Place, after which competitors head to stages in Wanneroo and Malaga.

Spectating is free and all 34 stages feature a number of locations where the public can witness prime motorsport action. Ross Tapper is looking forward to bringing the thrill of motorsport action to fans in Perth, as well as dedicated spectator points along the stages to watch them race. “And it’s all free, with plenty of opportunities to see the cars up close on display.

Drifting adds to the action

“The Malaga Stage on Sunday morning will have increased entertainment for motorsport fans – drift cars will put on a smoking showcase of sideways action in between runs of the rally cars.

“We’re delighted to welcome back a number of repeat competitors and to welcome the ever-increasing number of first-time ‘Rookie’ competitors – almost 25 per cent of the field are first-timers spread across the new Targa Tour, Challenge category and Competition category.

“This year’s Quit Targa West promises to be another hugely exciting challenge for all our participants,” Ross Tapper said. “Our thanks go to the local governments and residents for their willingness to share their beautiful locales with the event again this year.”
