Just one round to go in ’17

AGI SPORT’S NICK ROWE has won the penultimate round of the 2017 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park today.    It’s the first back-to-back round win in Australian F4 history, with NICK previously claiming the round win at the venue in 2016.

WA’s NICK and his championship rival Cameron Shields were tied on round points heading into Sunday’s finale, with both drivers claiming a race win and second place each in the first two races.
“I was just thinking before the start of the race, don’t jump the start.     I didn’t roll, thank goodness for that,” Nick said.    “Got the jump, Cameron was coming slowly but then I knew the race would be one lap shorter at least because of the safety car.     I kept my head down and finished the job off.”

Wheelspin at the start of Race Three cost Cameron crucial seconds, with Tyler  eventually taking the chequered flag 1.3 seconds ahead.     Fourth position in the final race was enough for Tyler Everingham to secure third place on the podium.     The championship embarks on its final round of 2017 on the legendary streets of the Gold Coast, October 20–22.
