OCC Racing Signs Perth Youngster

AIDAN READ makes his 24H debut March 31-April 2 at Silverstone in what is shaping up as a busy 2017 schedule.

The Perth teenager has confirmed he’ll also test with Algarve Pro Racing in the European Le Mans Series next month.

He’ll share the #249 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport drive at the famed British circuit with Kent ace Devon Modell, Team Principal Sponsor Dr. Fareed Ali, and two other soon-to-be-announced drivers.

The Creventic 24H heralds the opening championship round of the Touring Car Endurance Series, powered by Hankook.

“My first 24H race will present many new challenges and another dimension to past races,” Aidan said.

“The Silverstone 24H with OCC Racing with Newbridge is a key opportunity to adapt to the 24H scene. I’ve raced in GT4 at Bathurst and I’m looking forward to driving at yet another iconic track in a Porsche Cayman, which I know will be a thrill to drive.

“After spending the past few months in the Aussie summer, I think I’ll be in for a real shock heading to a crispy cold Silverstone. The weather is just another element of change which will be great to expose myself to.

“I met Devon in Malaysia recently, we get on well and I think we’ll make a good team. I’m looking forward to it!”

Aidan also benefits from a close working relationship – via BAM Motorsports – with five-time Le Mans winner, Oliver Gavin.

The 24H of Silverstone gets underway Saturday April 1.
