All Aboard the F1 Merry-Go-Round
SURPRISE, SURPRISE!
Valtteri Bottas is Lewis Hamilton’s new teammate.
Mercedes AMG has confirmed Bottas for the seat vacated by retired reigning champion Nico Rosberg in the 2017 Formula One World Championship.
The former Williams driver earned nine podiums during four years with the British outfit, which is now likely to be boosted by the extraordinary talents of ex-Merc tech director Paddy Lowe – a guru is there ever was one.
And word on the wall is former Ferrari tech director James Allison may now hop on board the German gravy train.
Meanwhile ex-Manor up-and-comer Pascal Wehrlein joins Marcus Ericsson at Sauber for this season.
And Felipe Massa is back from one of the shortest retirements in F1 history to ensure Williams has at least one experienced driver, with Canadian Lance Stroll making his F1 debut.
Over in France, Renault said au revoir to Team Principal Frederic Vasseur leaving current President Jerome Stoll and MD Cyril Abiteboul to fill the void meantime.
