PERTH’S AIDAN READ is at Japan’s iconic Suzuka Circuit this weekend for round three of the Blancpain GT Series Asia.

The young Aussie and his Craft-Bamboo Racing teammate Darryl O’Young are readying their Porsche for the historically strong part of their 2018 campaign.

“Suzuka is a circuit with a lot of character,” Aidan said.     “I loved the challenge last year and it’s the highlight of the calendar for me.   The Porsche was a car to watch last year in Japan.     It really propelled itself up the grid and I’m excited to find out how far Darryl and I can take it this weekend.”

Season High Grid

Today’s tyre testing for a new Pirelli compound for the championship will identify changes and develop the setup for the weekend to follow,  “We’re expecting a competitive weekend based on past performance at the track,” Aidan said.    “It’s up to all of us in the team to make the most of the car’s potential.   When the car is quick you have to execute, especially in such a competitive series.”

A season high 31 entries line up at Suzuka, with free practice tomorrow, Friday, and the two races Saturday and Sunday.
