Michael Henderson, fresh from winning Round One of the State Formula Classic championships in Collie, will miss the next round at Barbagallo Raceway April 22.
Instead he’s opted for the World Masters Hockey Championships in New Zealand, April 20-May 1
Hendo set a new outright circuit record at the Motorplex in his first race of the year.
With four children under 15 playing hockey – and having coached for the past 10 years – Hendo returned to Vets hockey last season. He’s now accepted an invitation to join a Masters team competing in the Worlds.
Beware of the Dark Horse
In a surprise move that saw many West Australian competitors racing historic open wheelers in NZ this year, he’s chosen a different pathway in 2017 leaving behind his helmet and Hans device to don mouth and shin guards.
Considering how competitive he is behind the wheel of his Ralt RT4 Formula Atlantic, one might suggest competing international teams beware of this ‘Dark Horse’!
Odds are he’ll be back on track soon.
