Tom Wilde and co-driver Madelin Kirkhouse are the CAMS Onslow Contracting Western Australian Rally outright champions for 2017.

It’s the first time since ’87 – the year the Nannup cheesemaker was born – a 2WD has won the WA title.    He and Maddie finished third in their Verandah Apartments-sponsored 1993 Honda Civic (pictured, above), a naturally aspirated 2WD car.     And it got the pair over line by just two points  – from Maximum Motorsport driver John O’Dowd and co-pilot Kenneth Sheil, who won Saturday’s event.      They won four of the five stages in 53rd Carrington’s Traffic Services Safari Rally – Australia’s oldest – in their 2007 Subaru WRX STI.

Brock Nicoli and Daniel Adams finished fastest in the Clubman Cup category in their MAXY Engineering 1994 Hyundai Lantra (pictured, above).     They now have a healthy lead going in to the season ending Darling 200 on November 11,     Meanwhile, John O’Dowd’s focus is on next month’s Rally Australia in Coffs Harbour, the final round of the World Rally Championship.
