HAVING SECURED the Junior Trophy lead in the ADAC GT Masters at the last round in the Czech Republic, West Aussie Aidan Read is in Austria this weekend confident of a good result.

The Red Bull Ring, a revised version of the 1969 built Osterreichring – later known A1 Ring – is based in Spielberg, within the picturesque Styrian mountains. Notorious for its unpredictable weather, the circuit is a serious challenge for Aidan and teammate Marvin Dienst, but one they’re looking forward to.

Aidan impressed with a top five overall finish on his European debut at Oschersleben and secured a strong podium and points haul in the Junior Trophy at Most in May. He’s demonstrated his immediate pace and has been working hard to balance life at home in Perth with his studies, as well as competing at a high level.

Although the Mercedes AMG GT3, below, that Schütz Motorsport runs is new to Aidan, the 20-year-old has adapted rapidly to produce the results that has landed him in the lead of the Junior Trophy after two rounds and 11th in the overall standings.

“The Official weekend runs from today (Friday) to Sunday, and I’m really looking forward to learning the track and working really hard to improve quickly and get more nice results. It’s a good target for us to stay in contention for the Junior Trophy, and once again our overall focus is points and personal best finishes.”
