Number One Dallara for Calan
GILMOUR RACING has elevated Calan Williams to the #1 Dallara F311 to contend for outright honours in the 2017 Australian Championship.
The 2011-spec car is the latest generation of Formula 3 available here. The European Formula 3 Championship – the pinnacle of world F3 racing – is contested with the latest generation. The model then is shipped across the globe to run in national championships, like Australia’s.
Calan heads to Brisbane this weekend to get fitted for his new ride, with the season opener mid-April at Victoria’s Winton looming large.
Gilmour Racing heavies were able to get a better handle on his abilities when he competed recently in the 2007-spec car at Wakefield Park, against 2015 Aussie champ Jon Collins at the helm of his F311.
Calan pulled out all stops to be shy by just 0.08 of a second in his last lap.

“To say I was impressed with him at Wakefield is an understatement,” said Team Principal Errol Gilmour. “We have the opportunity to put Calan straight into the 2011 car, and we’re looking forward to working with him in our campaign for the outright championship.
“Calan has ambitions in the future to progress his racing overseas, and this will give him the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the most advanced and relevant equipment whilst in Australia”.
“I’m extremely grateful for the faith Errol and the team have shown in me, and I am incredibly excited about being able to drive the F311 car with the later downforce package,” Calan said this week. “I can’t wait for Round 1, and with the best team and best car behind me I am firmly focused on competing for the title.”
