The 16-year old Aussie racer graduates into the premier F4 British Championship with series stalwarts Arden, reigning Teams’ Champions, aiming to successfully defend title and add to honours in 2019.
Arden today confirmed the Perth youngster as their first signing for the new season.
Bart Horsten moves into Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 series off the back of a season in the Australian Formula Ford Championship – his first in single-seaters – which yielded several podium finishes, following a hugely successful karting career.
His move to the Ford EcoBoost-powered championship is an integral part of Arden’s quest for success, with the outfit aiming to defend their Teams title and add the Drivers and Rookie Cup honours in 2019.
“I’m extremely excited to be racing with Arden in next year’s British F4 Championship,” Bart said.
“I can’t thank them enough for their help in making the move to the UK and providing such a welcoming environment. I have huge confidence in the team and what they can achieve next season.”
Arden CEO Garry Horner – father of Red Bull F1 boss Christian Horner – echoed Bart’s optimism and is hopeful the team can come out at the April season opener at Brands Hatch fighting on all fronts.
“We are delighted Bart has joined the Arden family and will be competing with us in the 2019 British F4 Championship,” he said. “Bart has the talent, experience and temperament to shine in F4 next year and we are looking forward to enjoying a very successful season together.”
British F4 retains its position as the sole single-seater support series on the UK’s premier motorsport package, the British Touring Car Championship, with capacity trackside crowds exceeding 30,000 spectators and millions more through ITV Sport’s live, free-to-air nationwide television coverage.
Bart Horsten is the fourth driver to commit to Ford’s winning formula in 2019, following the announcement of Fin Green at Carlin, Luke Browning at Richardson Racing and Roberto Faria at Fortec Motorsport, with further announcements expected in the New Year.
The entire field will meet the media at Brands Hatch on Wednesday March 13 before returning to the Kent circuit three weeks later to get another 10-event, 30-race calendar promising action, intrigue and wheel-to-wheel action underway April 6-7.
