GRANT HILL had a clean sweep at Round 4 of the WA CAMS Sports Sedans Championship, taking pole position and three race wins.    Just three points now separate the top three positions in the State title.
With near perfect weather conditions for qualifying, Grant put his Falcon on pole with a time of 58.1783.    He edged out Ron Moller’s Camaro – at his first event for 2017 – followed by Darren Boland, Ryan Humfrey, Rick Gill, Laurie Whittome, Ken Coppin, Tony Roskell and John Hanlon.

Grant and Ron battled it out up front for Race 1 with Grant narrowly winning that joust.    Then came Ryan, Laurie, Ken, Tony and John, with Darren retiring on Lap 1 with engine issues and Rick unable to make the start grid.

Grant and Ron again fought it out in Race 2 while Rick and Darren – starting rear of grid – worked their way back up the field until a mid-race safety car bunched up the field, allowing for a last lap dash.    Ron suffered a puncture in the final turn and spun in front of Ryan and Darren who then had a drag race to the finish line to follow Grant for the win.    Ryan second, Darren third.

Race 3 and Ron had to start rear of field but quickly went about regaining positions.    Darren chased Grant hard in the early stages of the race until he ran wide at Turn 1 and dropped back to 4th.    Ron retook second spot with a couple of laps reaming while Grant held on for his third win of the day,    Ryan 3rd, Darren 4th, from Laurie, Ken, Tony, John and Rick.

With 12 of the 18 CAMS WA Sports Sedan/Sports Car Championship races completed, Darren Boland leads the Sports Sedans on 218 points from Grant Hill on 217 and Ryan Humfrey 215. Tony Roskell 100 and Laurie Whittome 83 round out the Top 5.     Ken Coppin has worked his way up to third in the Sports Cars Championship, a single point behind second spot.

Meanwhile Darren also leads the Club Championship.
