Drags Galore for Motorplex this weekend!

The 49th Westernationals – round eight of the 2019/2020 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series – is set to blitz the Perth Motorplex this Saturday and Sunday. The last two times the Westernats stormed the ‘Plex, Darlington racer Craig Caton walked away with the Super Street victory aboard his stunning HX GTS Monaro.
He scored his maiden Gold ANDRA Christmas Tree Trophy in 2019 and, after an engine change, won his second later in the year at the Goldenstates event, which marked round four of the current national season.
Craig has plenty of talented opposition to contend with – 46 racers have entered for the Super Street bracket – and 210 competitors overall competing for a prestigious ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree Trophy.
And one of those is 25-year-old Brookdale fabricator Cory Treasure, pictured below in the LS Express. lining up against his uncle, Darryl Treasure.
The 2019 Westernationals Modified winner is looking forward to returning February 29-March 1 to what is his favourite event on the calendar.
“Last year’s Westernationals was just an awesome event. It was my first full year of racing and the event has always been my favourite – so to be able to compete in it then end up winning the Gold ANDRA Christmas Tree was a dream come true for both my dad, Kym Treasure, and I.” Cory Treasure.
“The car ran flawlessly last year and heading into this year’s event I am feeling very excited as it is running perfectly and my reaction times have been pretty consistent so far this season too.
“I would love to hand my dad another Gold ANDRA Christmas Tree this weekend, but the absolute dream come true would be to race Uncle Darryl, my fellow Modified competitor, in an all-Treasure Family Racing final!”
The 49th Westernationals features the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, with Top Fuel, the West Coast Top Doorslammer Challenge and the West Coast Nitro Bike Challenge.
