PERTH YOUNG GUN JORDAN LOVE faces another major challenge at the 3.12km Queensland Raceway as he vies for the coveted Jim Richards Endurance Trophy.   By any measure the 17-year-old Porsche Junior’s 2017 season has been stellar.

Jordan is en route to his fourth straight round win in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia presented by Pirelli series,  something achieved only twice previously.   He’s now won seven races in a row, an extraordinary achievement.   While he has more to focus on than records, a clean sweep this weekend would also deliver the youngster a new series win streak record.

“I’m really looking forward to racing at QR and hopefully having another strong endurance race performance tomorrow,” the Sonic Motor Racing/Quintis ace said, after posting the fastest time in today’s practice sessions.   “I have limited experience in a sports car at the track and, while it isn’t as technical as somewhere like Sydney, it will provide plenty of challenges.”

 Nothing Comes Easy

Saturday’s opening race determines the three-race endurance series, now in its seventh season.   It’s certainly no easy ride for the WA lad.     Jordan faces stiff competition from  Grove Hire’s Brenton Grove and Hallmark Homes’  Anthony Gilbertson, second and third in the Endurance Trophy standings.

Nevertheless, the tough 40-lapper has Jordan a firm favourite to join Roger Lago, Kane Rose, Richard Muscat, Fraser Ross, James Abela and Jaxon Evans as recipients of the honour.

“It’ll be a great weekend and it would be amazing to secure the Jim Richards Endurance Trophy with a strong performance in race one,” Jordan said.

The event, with race two and race three on Sunday. is the GT3 Cup Challenge penultimate round.   The final round is Phillip Island September 8-10.
