The City of Wanneroo advised ACM this morning the Monster Trucks event “was never approved at any stage”. Subsequently I received the following statement from Debbie Terelinck, Director Community & Place, City of Wanneroo:
GREAT MONSTER TRUCK SHOWDOWN – BARBAGALLO RACEWAY, NEERABUP
31st October 2017:
“After originally advertising the 18th November event to be held at HBF Stadium Joondalup, organisers submit an application to City of Wanneroo to hold The Great Monster Truck Showdown at Barbagallo Raceway, Neerabup.15th November 2017:
“The event application for The Great Monster Truck Showdown was refused on the basis that the safety measures and controls proposed to be implemented did not adequately and effectively address the risks to public safety.“The City of Wanneroo’s Public Community Events Policy states that the City is required to act in accordance with its statutory obligations.
“The City also has the overriding authority to cancel events due to non-compliance or risk mitigation, particularly if it is considered that the running of an event poses a threat to public safety.
“The City recommended that The Great Monster Truck Showdown event be cancelled.
“The operators of Barbagallo Raceway (WA Sporting Car Club) consequently confirmed the event would not be allowed to proceed, and instructed event organisers to cease construction of the temporary viewing area and vacate the site.”

Notice to Ultimate Monster Truck fans
“At 1:30 today, due to the unfortunate circumstances out of our control, this Saturday’s show that was going to be held at Barbagallo Raceway has been CANCELLED. We received the notice at such a late time. we had all the cars and jumps set up fencing in place. All we needed was to set up PA system and retrieve trucks that where on display.
“All refunds will be handled by Ticketmaster and those who purchased tickets at the Kingsway tourist park will need to hand their tickets back to receive their money back.
“We sincerely apologies for this situation that has arisen that is out of our control us as a company has had a lot of time effect travel and money invested in the show, which for us is now all unretrievable.
“WE ARE ALL VERY SORRY.” – Ultimate Monster Truck admin team.
