Kiwis finally have some real skin on the F1 grid after Brendon Hartley was confirmed today to race with Toro Rosso at Austin, Texas this coming weekend.

He replaces Pierre Gasly who is back racing in Japan.     Amazingy, Hartley is the first New Zealander since 1984 to get a seat in the world’s premier category.     He is the ninth driver from across the ditch and joins the legendary likes of Bruce McLaren, Denny Hulme and Chris Amon. Mike Thackwell was the last, 33 years ago.     The Circuit of the Americas is a track Hartley – the test and reserve driver for Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso – enjoys.     “And I feel ready for it,” he said this week.    Good luck to him!
