Virgin Australia Supercars’ inaugural PIRTEK Perth SuperNight features track action from around midday Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week.

Wanneroo’s Barbagallo Raceway hosts championship races under lights with 120kms (50 laps) Friday starting 6:45 pm (AWST) and 200kms (83 laps) Saturday from 6:35 pm.

The hugely popular and powerful Historic Touring Cars fire up the action each day, starting with Practice Thursday May 2 at 11:55 am.

Supercars first hit the newly resurfaced 2.41km circuit with a 30-minute practice session Thursday from 6:40 pm local time, and records should tumble.

Barbagallo Raceway was last resurfaced in 2004 and JASON BRIGHT clocked a 55.9940-second stunner, a Series record for Wanneroo that is the benchmark.

Sunset in Perth this week is 5.37pm.

Other categories in action this week include the Dunlop Super2 Series, ECB SuperUtes Series and Australian GT Championship. Super2 drivers contest twilight races on Friday and Saturday, while a GT race follows Supercars each evening.

Friday’s Practice 2 is at 12:50 pm and the knockout ARMOR ALL Qualifying from 3:55 pm. Saturday’s practice is at 1:05 pm with 2:50 pm qualy.

The PIRTEK Perth SuperNight is broadcast live on Fox Sports, with Network Ten also carrying the event. But there’s simply nothing quite like being trackside!

I’ll see you there, courtesy of the WA Sporting Car Club!
