LAMBORGHINI has broken the record for production cars on the Nürburgring circuit, fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, specially developed by Pirelli engineers.
Pirelli tailored its tyres to the new Lamborghini Huracán Performante which, in a time of 6 minutes 52 seconds 01 hundredths of a second back on October 6, posted a new record time at the famous ‘North Ring’ (Nordschliefe) of the German track.
The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, measuring 245/30ZR20 at the front and 305/30ZR20 in the rear, were designed by especially for the event. Pirelli technicians developed the tyres in just three months, thanks to the utilisation of advanced modelling technologies and the correlation of track data with telemetry. The cooperation of the Pirelli and Lamborghini teams enabled them to define the vehicle setup in just one development session.
Alongside the Lamborghini R&D team, representatives from Pirelli responsible for the development of the tyres designed especially for the Huracán Perfomante were also present at the Nürburgring.
With P Zero Trofeo R tyres, Pirelli says, you will be able to enjoy – especially on the track – the safety and performance of the most extreme cars for a long time to come.
In the extreme conditions typical of track racing these tyres respond to orders with total precision. On dry tarmac, even in the most difficult sessions, they ensure high levels of grip and consistent racing lines.
P Zero Trofeo R tyres make use of motorsport compounds with secret ingredients and redesigned treads which have generated extraordinary results: in part due to an improvement in their sensitivity and their lateral grip on dry tarmac, in part due to a notable reduction in tyre wear.
