“Ivan Mauger OBE, the greatest Speedway rider of our time, passed away at 4am Monday April 16 in nursing care on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
“Our sympathy to Ivan’s wife Raye, children Julie, Debbie and Kym. The funeral service will be held Friday week, April 27 at Southport Church of Christ at 11.30am.
“People paying their respects are coming from all over the world.”

Kiwi Ivan Mauger– the motorcycle Speedway rider known as the “Galloping Mauger” – won a record six World Championships, including three in a row from 1968-70. He was 78 – born October 4 1939, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
